This session will discuss the manuscript review process generally carried out by reputable scientific journals.
Among the questions that will be addressed are:
How do editors go about deciding whom to invite as reviewers?
Authors recommendations? Should authors do it?
Editorial Board members? Friends?
General scientific community with pertinent expertise?
Where is my paper? How to manage a long delay in receiving a review?
3. Submitting a revised manuscript for further review:
a. How to respond to an unfair review?
b. How to respond to a fair but unfavorable review?
c. How to respond to snide remarks in a review?
4. Appealing to the Editor: how to do it.
Learning Objectives:

Speaker Information

Ho-Leung Fung, Ph.D., Editor-in-Chief, The AAPS Journal
Ho-Leung Fung has been the Editor-in-Chief of The AAPS Journal since 2005. He has been an Associate Editor for the Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for several scientific publications, including Pharmaceutical Research, International Journal of Pharmaceutics, Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Drug Development and Industrial Pharmacy, European Journal of Pharmaceutics and Biopharmaceutics, and Basic Research in Cardiology.


Fung has coauthored over 250 peer-reviewed articles with his associates and collaborators. He has received several research awards, including the Research Achievement Award in Pharmacokinetics, Pharmacodynamics and Drug Metabolism (AAPS, 1988), MERIT Award (National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute, NIH, 1988), Research Achievement Award in Pharmacodynamics (American Pharmaceutical Association, 1992), Takeru and Aya Higuchi Memorial Award (Academy of Pharmaceutical Sciences and Technology, Japan, 1995), and an Honorary Doctor of Laws (Monash University, Australia, 2008).
He retired as UB Distinguished Professor Emeritus from the University at Buffalo, Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences, School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences in 2013.
